Yes, I've heard of Vertigo -- the MOVIE -- I just never thought I would be suffering from it. Wikipedia says: "Vertigo (from the Latin vertigin-, vertigo, "dizziness," originally "a whirling or spinning movement," from vertere "to turn"[1]) is a specific type of dizziness, a major symptom of a balance disorder. It is the sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is actually stationary with respect to the surroundings. The effects of vertigo may be slight. It can cause nausea and vomiting and, in severe cases, it may give rise to difficulties with standing and walking." This is what I have been suffering from for the last three days. I went to the doctor's office and saw the Nurse Practitioner. She said this is what I have, gave me a shot to settle my stomach, and told me to go home, stay home from work through Friday, and treat the symptoms. I don't know for sure how long it will last, but I am ready for it to be gone. It is not a fun feeling!! While we were waiting in the doctor's office, the TV was on. The commercial for Bisquick's shaking bottle pancake mix came on. If you haven't seen it, the screen starts shaking because mom is getting ready to make some pancakes. Boy did the nausea hit me hard then!
I sometimes feel like my head is floating separate from my body. Ugh! I want to be able to go to the genealogy conference that Leigh and I signed up for tomorrow, but the way I feel now, I don't think I will make it. Maybe I should be hoping to get to church on Sunday and/or work on Monday!! My head sort of feels like I've got a cold, but without all of those symptoms, just ringing in my ears -- more than I usually have -- and this floaty head thing along with all the dizziness. Since the shot I've only had one bout of nausea (I hope I don't have more now that I've said it). Anyway, I hope to be back to normal soon.
