I worked summer school during the month of June. 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, for the first 4 weeks of June. It was nice to have a little income for the month! And it was fun to see the teachers for a few more weeks. Then I got six weeks with no work. My plan was to do some cleaning, get clutter sorted, relax with the family, and whatever else came up. Well what came up was a few doctor appointments/lab tests, some sorting of clutter, a surgery last Friday, and not getting nearly enough done.
All of the doctor appointments/lab tests showed "normal." These were trying to find my problem with dizziness/vertigo. So I'm still having dizzy moments, but everything is "normal." HA! If everything is normal, why am I still dizzy???!!!
Anyway....last summer I wore a Holter monitor for a month so the doctor could see how often, long, etc., that I have SVT's (rapid heartbeat). After that they changed my medication. Then in April, the cardiologist said, why not just go in and fix the heart!? I wasn't looking forward to it, but it was scheduled for July 17. The surgery generally takes 3-4 hours with 3-4 hours of recovery which includes lying flat on your back and not moving. They go in through a vein in the groin and wind their way to the heart where they "map" it to find the part that is causing the rapid heartbeat. Then they "zap" it with radio-frequency waves. "Catheter ablation is a type of treatment for cardiac arrhythmias. During ablation, a doctor inserts a catheter (thin, flexible tube) into the heart. A special machine delivers energy through the catheter to tiny areas of the heart muscle that cause the abnormal heart rhythm. This energy “disconnects” the pathway of the abnormal rhythm." EP Lab:

The actual procedure only took 2 hours!! YAY! I was very happy about that. Dr. Chan (who did my procedure) is great! He said I was one of the lucky 10% where it was pretty straight-forward and he could get it done quickly. I still had to lie flat for nearly 5 hours afterward, and other than still being a little tired, I'm doing really well! I plan to take it easy for the next couple of days and then it's back to cleaning, de-cluttering, and getting to work in August!
Today we were awakened around 4:30 am with the flash and roar of a thunderstorm. It's nice to have some rain, but the lightning and thunder woke everyone up - way too early! Luckily all of us except Leigh could go back to sleep after a while. He had to get up and go to work. I imagine he is tired, though.
Well, that's a little catch-up on my activities for the last little while. Stay tuned for more later!
